DPS International, Gurgaon is an authorized IB World School for the Middle Years Programme
The Middle School includes students between 11 and 16 years in Grades 6 to 10.
The middle school provides a holistic, student-centred learning experience that builds on the learning developed in the primary school, nurturing intellectual, personal, emotional, and social growth. Through concept-driven and inquiry-based learning, students develop deep conceptual understanding, disciplinary knowledge, and transfer skills that enable them to make meaningful connections across subjects and apply their learning in authentic contexts. The programme empowers students to become self-directed learners by fostering reflection and agency. It also provides opportunities for students to recognise and develop their strengths while building confidence, resilience, and a sense of personal achievement.

The eight subject groups provide a broad foundation of knowledge. The teaching approach used aims to encourage students to question and evaluate information critically, to seek out and explore links between subjects, and to relate the content of the classroom to the realities of the world outside school.
All students study all eight MYP subject groups. Subject choices are offered where applicable. For Language Acquisition, students choose one language from the three languages offered by the school and study it throughout the MYP at the phase that best reflects their language proficiency and development. Students who have yet to develop their English skills, which is also the school's medium of instruction, will receive additional English Support.
At DPSI, in the Middle Years Programme (MYP), there is emphasis on interdisciplinary teaching and learning, where students make meaningful connections across subject areas to develop a deeper understanding of real-world issues. By integrating knowledge, concepts, and skills from different disciplines, students strengthen critical and creative thinking, collaborate effectively, and apply their learning in authentic contexts. This approach promotes the transfer of knowledge and nurtures lifelong learners.
MYP students in their final year explore an area of personal interest over an extended period. Each student develops a personal project independently, producing a truly personal and creative piece of work that stands as a summative review of their ability to conduct independent work. It provides them the opportunity to consolidate their learning in MYP.
Service as Action is an integral part of the Middle Years Programme. It requires students to engage with the self, as well as the local and global community, and provides opportunities for them to explore, design, implement, and reflect on their efforts to make a positive impact on their environment. Through these experiences, students learn the value of participation and gain a deeper understanding of the issues facing their immediate surroundings.

Assessment in the MYP
At DPSI, we believe assessment is integral to all teaching and learning and is an ongoing process of gathering, analyzing and reflecting on evidence to make informed and consistent judgments to improve student learning.
