Where Language Came Alive
Trip to instituto cervantes
As part of their Language Acquisition
learning, MYP 4 Spanish students visited
Instituto Cervantes, immersing themselves in
the rich heritage of Spanish-speaking
cultures. The visit offered a dynamic
experience beyond textbooks, where students
engaged in interactive activities, explored
cultural exhibits, and deepened their
appreciation for the diversity within the
Spanish-speaking world.
A special screening of the animated film Coco provided insights into
Mexican traditions, while direct interactions with Spanish and Hispanic
nationals helped hone their conversational skills. This experiential learning
opportunity promoted cultural integrity by encouraging authentic
understanding, respect, and responsible engagement with global
perspectives—deepening students’ connection to the language they are
learning.
“Our visit to Cervantes helped me explore Mexican
culture in a fun and interactive way. Talking to native
speakers boosted my confidence in Spanish and made
the experience truly enriching.”
— Namish Nahar, MYP 4
“We toured the entire institute and took part in several
activities. It gave us a deeper understanding of both
Spanish and Mexican traditions.”
— Nabiha Khan & Aisha Khatter, MYP 4
