INDIVIDUALS & SOCIETES- LANGUAGE &
LITERATURE symposium
In August 2024, MYP 4 showcased their talent,
critical thinking, and commitment to integrity at
the I&S and L&L symposium, Balancing the
Global Stage. The event opened with courtroom
scenes from The Merchant of Venice—4A
debated religious teachings in schools, while 4B
addressed unfair labor practices, both
emphasizing ethical responsibility and justice. A
WSC-style debate on ethical trade questioned
whether the WFTO should mandate practices in
LEDCs. In a dynamic G7 summit, students
discussed AI’s role in global trade, and the day
concluded with an energetic Ultimate Rap
Battle on fair trade, reinforcing the importance
of integrity in commerce and global citizenship.
MYP 3 students also presented their interdisciplinary learning in the
Patriotism and Pride symposium,
blending Language and Literature with
Individuals and Societies to explore
national and personal identity. Their
presentations highlighted ATL skills—
self-management, collaboration, and
critical thinking—woven into MYP
learning.
The symposium celebrated collaboration,
intellectual honesty, and thoughtful
reflection, leaving the audience both
inspired and engaged.
