A Sight

                                  to be Seen

                                  By Devyaani Agarwaal (MYP 5)

It was a sight like no other,
                                      The skies were grey.
And there was a lingering chill in the air,
All you could hear were seagulls squawking,
And the waves violently thrashing against the
                                      shore,
There was not a person in sight.
It was just me, myself, and I.

The sand was wet and my feet were moist.
The sand clung to them, like leeches to blood.
I was all alone, alone, to ponder upon my
                                      thoughts.

I thought it would rain soon.
And as I looked above from down below,
I felt a drop hit my face,
And slowly watched the seagulls fly far, far away.

As I drew in a breath,
My nose was hit by the ocean breeze,
                                      It smelt like salt,
                                      Salty like sea,

The waves soon became taller and louder,
Everything suddenly came to a pause.
As I watched the tumultuous waves rise and fall,
                                      They danced erratically,
With the beat of the wind,
I’m not lying when I tell you.
That it really was a sight to be seen.
