India at the Olympics
The Olympics, one of the most prestigious competitions in all of the world. It is a com-
petition with more than 100 events and more than 150 countries participating in it.
Every athlete who represents their country has high expectations of winning gold,
silver or bronze medals. India has been participating in the Olympics since
1900. The nation has shown remarkable performances in team events like
hockey. However, despite the beautiful show in hockey, our country could
not garner any notable success in individual sporting events. But, this
has not been the case in recent years.
In the past few years, India has been performing very well in
all types of sports. India’s performance in the Tokyo Olym-
pics was especially phenomenal. Team India won a total of
7 medals, one of them being the shiny gold. Yes! After all
these years, India has ranked high in multiple types of
sports. Even the few players and teams that didn’t win
medals, won all of our hearts, like the Indian wom-
en’s hockey team. The women’s hockey team lost in the
bronze medal match but performed remarkably to get
there. No one had expected the women’s team to go this
far, but they did, which is an excellent achievement in
itself.
Then, Neeraj Chopra secured gold in javelin throw; who would have thought we
could have gotten a gold medal in the event that barely anyone followed. These games
changed his life because he went all over the news, won a cash prize from the prime
minister, and got world recognition. He has set up an example for all of the people who
dream about sports as their future. Not only that, India won a silver and six bronze
medals in different sports. These talented athletes have given us a great example that
when hard work is combined with determination, you can reach new heights and
break all the records.
