The runathon continued with other grades in the day. The students were given the option to walk/jog/run on
the school campus covering a distance of 1500m to 2300m.

There was a slogan and poster-making competition also during the events. The students made several posters
representing their house and cheered for their house members who took part in the runathon. In the slogan
competition, each house had a different slogan prepared to cheer for their house.

Runathon gave an oppurtunity for students to explore a balance between exercise and fun. They were able to
support a cause while competiting for points for their house.

        Innovate to Save the soil:

        An interview

        with specialists !

Ms. Paramjeet Kaur Narang and Mr. Jayant Sarkar

Advocates of ‘Save the Soil‘ Movement

Sarthak: Our school has had the pleasure of hosting a Runathon to advocate for protecting our soil. As
advocates of the movement what do you think future generations can do to
        protect their soil?

Ms. Narang: There is no one solution. The first thing is to understand the gravity of the issue and be
aware of what we have to do, and then we need to go at the policy level. We need to get after govern-
ments to create policies that are holistic, wholesome and will endure for years and years to come.

Mr. Sarkar: I would encourage future generations to spend some time with soil every day. Maybe by
walking barefoot in their garden or touching the soil with their hands in the park they play. I think
future generations will begin realizing that soil is where we come from and it is where we will go in the
end. We and the soil are one and the same. We are the same thing. We are not taking care of ourselves,
unless we take care of soil.

                                                                                                             43
