n March 2021 we marked the seventh anniversary of
DPS International. Our mission and motivation was
Ithen—and remains now—student-driven. For the
past seven years, we've helped students harness their
potential and desire to learn by helping them discover
and build upon their diverse strengths and interests.
The last year has been a revelation for most of us.
Many of us have faced challenges, uncertainty, and
grief like we may have never experienced before. Many
of us may have also found new interests, returned to
passions long forgotten, developed renewed respect
for nature and the outdoors, reconnected with family
and turned towards mindfulness and inner peace. We
spent the year living in a bubble at home and relying on
social media to help us connect to others and realised
how precious human proximity and contact are.
The school’s vision of providing exceptional
educational environment so that students are
equipped to achieve their potential has been an anchor
point for us through the recent times of uncertainty
and challenges. This has been demonstrated by
all our educators and learners as we maintain our
commitment to high-quality education in new and
dynamic ways.

While we worked throughout the year, we
never lost hope. We adapted and changed plans
but never changed the goal. The unconditional
support of our management, the trust of all our
stakeholders and our perseverance paved the way
for new opportunities and success stories. As you
flip through the e-pages, you will be amazed at the
number of activities, events and ideas that made
this year unique.
As we move ahead, we must strive to be
balanced, which is also one of the IB learner profile
attributes. We need to balance different aspects
of our lives — intellectual, physical, and emotional;
we need to balance well-being for ourselves and
others as we recognize our interdependence with
other people and the world in which we all live.
COVID-19 is something that our children are going
to have to live with for longer than us adults and we
must do whatever it takes to mitigate its impacts.
I thank all who contributed to this school
magazine and acknowledge the editorial team
for all the hours of work put in for this e-edition of
BEATS. I am sure all the readers will enjoy reading it.
