        Between the Lines

Ms. Bulbul Sharma, an acclaimed Indian author and painter addressed the students of MYP 1 to 3 in a virtual
book fair. She introduced the students to her new book ‘Mythical Creatures’, with the aim of spreading aware-
ness about the rich mythological tradition of India. To accomplish her mission of making the students aware of
the mythology of India, she conducted an interactive story reading session where excerpts were read, she also
explored the philosophical origins of different gods and demons. This discussion ignited a spark in students to
delve deeper in the history of mythological creatures and Ms. Bulbul’s approach to writing and linguistic style .
Students of MYP 1 - MYP 3 asked various questions from the esteemed author and engaged in many meaning-

ful discussions. These insightful discussions helped the students to establish meaningful connections between
their own mythological tradition and others which give birth to myriad living traditions in the contemporary
world. Mythological traditions with so many gods, evils, demons of diverse origins give birth to myriad liv-
ing traditions in the contemporary world. In all, the journey of Bulbul Sharma as an artist was awe-inspiring
and this interactive author session was nothing less than transformational for the students of DPSI . It truly
inspired students to look beyond what they see and ignited their interest in Indian Mythology and literature.

Aarit Kapoor: The session was informative and interactive. We met an author, Bulbul
Sharma. She discussed her journey as an author. Read some of her stories, and learnt
about Indian mythology. We learnt that to do anything in life you must have passion.

Aarna Pahuja: The session was amazing and interesting. I had a lot of fun listening to
the ‘Kaliya’. The session was insightful and thoroughly increased my understanding
on Indian Mythology. I was also interested to learn about the author’s personal inter-
ests in painting and writing books during the question and answer time.
