ROBERT THE BRUCE
a poem by Sahaana T.M., MYP 1
The King of Scotland was at war,
And things were not so well so far,
The British tried to conquer them,
But Robert did not give up then.
At last The Bruce took to flight,
How could he not, when his grand might
Was snatched away, was ripped away,
Leaving him right there to sway?
A cave helped him to contemplate,
The number of things on his plate,
He saw a spider spin her web
Six times she tried, six times she failed.
But give up, she never did.
She persevered and she spun.
The seventh time she tried to spin,
One, Two, it was a win!
“I'll try again,”
She seemed to say,
“Until I win! Until I win!”
“I'll try again,”
Said Robert,
And try again he did.
The Englishmen were driven out, and Scotland won
the war.
