The 2-month long process
provided students an
opportunity to illustrate
creative thinking skills in
culminating 13 unique
dresses and jewelry pieces
that showcased tasteful up-
cycling of the collected trash.
The sustainably designed
jewelry pieces were aptly
divided into 8 collections:
1. Hard wear- main
materials were zippers,
buckles, handles salvaged
from old jackets, belts, and
bags
2. Loom bloom- main
materials were fabric like
denim and fake leathers
3. Yearn yarn- main
materials were yarns made
from jute and cotton
4. Seeds of change-
botanical jewelry using locally
available seeds like pongamia
(Millettia pinnata)
5. Touch no wood-
(alternatives to wood)- Wood
apple shell, branches, bamboo
cuttings (school garden),
coconut and mango pits (from
the cafeteria)
6. No-use nouveau- soda
tin cans, fruit forks, yogurt
jars, plastic bottles and bottle
caps (cafeteria)
7. Style flyer- paper
jewelry from advertisement
flyers in newspapers
8. Hide and seek- leather
from bags, belts jackets
